ISLAMABAD, March 04 : The Supreme Court on Friday annulled decision of Parliamentary Committee on rejecting the nomination of High Court judges.
The four-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice MA Shahid Sidduqui and comprising Justice Khilji Arif Hassan, Justice Tariq Pervez and Justice Jawad S Khawaja also ordered for issuing notification for extension of tenure of six judges of Sindh and Lahore high courts for one year.
In its brief verdict, the bench rejected the recommendation of the parliamentary commission and ordered for issuing notification for extension of four judges of LHC and two of the SHC on the recommendation of Judicial Commission.
During the hearing Makhdoom Ali Khan advocate remarked that parliamentary committee had rejected the names of six judges nominated by the Judicial Commission for extending appointment of them, adding that only Judicial Commission can decide about the qualification and competent judges for the post.
Lawyer for the Federation told the court that those judges who have limited knowledge in their field could not be given extension.
Makhdoom Ali Khan said that the lawyer for federation attacked decision of judicial commission by giving such statement.
