Taseer’s assassination not justified in Shariat: Iftikhar Hussain

PESHAWAR, Jan 05 : The Minister for Information and Public Relations Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that the elements, who provoked the main accused of the murder of Governor Salman Taseer, Malik Mumtaz, were also equally responsible for this murder. He said this high profile murder was not justified in Shariah as well.

Talking to media persons here Wednesday, Mian Iftikhar said he is ready to sacrifice his life for Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat, however, nobody is empowered to take law into his own hands.

He, while strongly condemning the barbaric killing of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer, said the confessional statement of the accused is not enough, and added there would be some other elements behind him, which must be investigated thoroughly.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that Governor Punjab Salman Taseer was a seasoned politician who always worked for democracy and its norms. In his death, we lost a thorough gentleman and an experienced politician. He while praying for the eternal peace of late Salman Taseer expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.

He also appealed to the national leaders to be careful while issuing statements on sensitive issues. He also held Ulema responsible for providing guidance to the nation on sensitive issues.
