Six gypsy children die due to extreme cold in Multan

MULTAN, Jan 06 : As many as six minors died and more then 20 others are suffering from ailments due to cold weather and lack of resources by the parents to provide them protection from the extreme weather.

Meteorological department has forecast that temperature would remain around two degree centigrade in Multan in the next few days. Dense fog has covered the entire area.

The extremely cold weather has caused spread of diseases like fever, chest infection, cough and flu health officials said.

The sick children have been admitted in different government hospitals for medical treatment where according to doctors some of them were in critical condition.

Six children who died due to cold belonged to gypsy families. Health department team said that all deaths were result of sever cold weather.

Meanwhile, the local health department has setup a free medical camp for treating the patients after increase in diseases and deaths due to cold.

During the free medical camp, large numbers of patients including women and children were checked up by doctors. They were given free medicines and tips for safety against severe cold .The doctors also referred serious patients to hospitals for admission.
