LAHORE: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani claimed on Monday that Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) PML-Q has held out assurance to support PPP-led government in the current political turmoil.
Talking to newsmen after meeting PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and his brother and former Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Ilahi, the premier said “Chaudhry brothers have supported the PPP government unconditionally in the past and I hope for the same in future.”
He urged politicians to be responsible parliamentarians and support the government for strengthening institutions, democracy and parliament of the county.
“PML-Q leaders have assured me that they will not be part of any move to derail the democracy and collapse the PPP government,” Gilani said.
Gilani told reports that PML-Q has summoned a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) to finalize its decision discussed in today’s parley.
