PESHAWAR, Jan 01 :Corps Commander Peshawar Let Gen Asif Yasin Malik has termed the New Year 2011 as a year of ‘change’.
Addressing students of tribal areas, who have completed their Technical Education in a convocation organized by Khyber Institute of Technical Education here at Peshawar, Asif YAsin Malik said that government have launched several developmental projects in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
He said that wide net of roads and bridges was laid down in South Waziritan Agency and a major check post at Angoor Adda will also be established in order to improve security in the area.
“Peace has been restored in Orakzai Agency and the area will make progress with strides while peace talks were underway to also restore peace in Kurram Agency by ending the internal fight between locals,” the Corps Commander said to media men.
Asif Yasin further said that law enforcement agencies were tasked with the job of elimination terrorism and extremism from the soil of Pakistan, adding that government will increase law enforcement agencies strength in FATA to ensure durable peace.
“I wish to hand over power to the civil administration in tribal areas,” the Corps Commander Peshawar reiterated.
