Turkey provided help during Swat operation against militants: Mukhtar

ISTANBUL, Dec 25 : Defence Minister Chaudhary Ahmad Mukhtar has said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoy excellent defense cooperation and there is a very good understanding between the forces of the two countries.

In an interview in Istanbul, the defense Minister said that Turkey has always helped Pakistan in difficult times. During the operation in Swat, Turkey provided Pakistan with free of cost guided missiles and bombs.

Chaudhary Ahmad Mukhtar said that Turkish nation and people greatly adore Pakistan and they want to see us as a prosperous and a powerful nation. He said there is also better understanding between the leadership of the two countries.

About the Pak-Afghan-Turkey trilateral summit, the defense minister said it was the fifth trilateral summit, providing an opportunity to reflect upon the successes and commitments made in the past. He expressed the confidence that this summit too would have a positive outcome.

Responding to a question, the defense minister said that Pakistan is a frontline state in the war against terrorism and it is determined to completely root out the menace.
