TTP threatens attacks on non-Muslim officer

LAHORE, Dec 02 : The outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has threatened the Punjab's government of removing all non-Muslim officials from their posts, otherwise such officials would either be killed or their offices would be targeted.

Sources privy to details said that the Punjab government received the threats in letters written to it by the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban, which the authorities had forwarded to the intelligence agencies.

The militants also threatened to attack the Director General Livestock and his office in next fourteen days.

The threats came ahead of the holy month of Muharram, with terrorists purportedly targeting mourning processions, shrines, majalis, Imambargahs and important religious leaders.

The provincial government of Punjab had directed the administration, police and intelligence agencies to provide foolproof security to all non-Muslim officers in the province while police. The law enforcement agencies have also been directed to immediately put the security on high alert across the country and take all necessary security measures.
