SHC disqualifies six DCOs

KARACHI, Dec 29 : The Sindh High Court (SHC) Tuesday declared six district coordination officers (DCO) ineligible from Sindh and directed the government to dismiss them.

The two-member bench of the court comprised of Justice Shahid Anwar Bajwa and Justice Tufail H Ibrahim issued the order in response to a petition filed by a person named Gul Hasan Channa.

The petitioner had stated that the appointments of the six DCOs were not based on merit. He further stated that appointment for the position of DCO required the candidate to have been trained at the Civil Services Academy, Lahore or the Provincial Services Academy, Peshawar, or the candidate be trained in the Assistant Collector Part 2.

However, according to the petitioner, all six of the DCOs did not fulfil the requirement.

The Sindh High Court, subsequently, directed the government to dismiss the six officials and appoint officers who fulfil the criteria for the position.
