ISLAMABAD, Dec 23 : The Supreme Court Thursday directed to spend money acquired by auctioning 81 plots of former member of Punjab Assembly on development of Venus Housing Scheme.
A full bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry disposed of the petitions filed in the public interest.
In accordance with the petition former member Punjab Assembly Mian Shahbaz auctioned the plots of Venus Housing Schemes but he did not undertake any development work on the said project.
Police took Shahbaz before the court. The court directed Secretary Housing to survey the bogus housing schemes and plan a crackdown on them.
The court remarked that it knew what was happening in the country in the name of housing schemes.
