LAHORE, Dec 30 : The Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal Thursday demanded the federal government to take appropriate action against Punjab Governor Salman Taseer for violating the constitution.
The governor had visited Sri Lanka without informing the provincial government and nominating an acting governor, which is a violation of the constitution.
Talking to media persons during a photo exhibition, the Rana Iqbal said that he had sent a letter to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani urging him to take appropriate action against the governor.
“I am waiting for the prime minister’s reply,” Rana Iqbal said.
He said that the Punjab Assembly was also reviewing moving a resolution against the unconstitutional act of the Governor.
