President Summons NA session on Dec 20

ISLAMABAD, Dec 18: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned session of the National Assembly on Monday, Dec 20 at the Parliament House. The president has summoned the National Assembly session in exercise of his power conferred by clause (1) of article 54 of the constitution.

Political pundits expect the up coming session of the lower house as stormy in the wake of the political development in the country arisen after sacking of federal religious minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi on corruption charges in Hajj arrangements and the JUI (F) Federal Minister Azam Swati for exposing corruption for the former.

Sacking of the (F) minister caused a severe dent in the coalition government as the JUI (F) parted ways from the federal government at a time when the government was seeking support from its partners for getting approval of the Reformed General Sales Tax from the parliament to pave a way for smooth release of the pending sixth tranche of an $11 billion International Monetary Fund loan.

The MQM another major alliance is at dagger drawn with PPP Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza's provocative remarks against MQM. The MQM has already opposed the propose RGST and has vowed to go against it in the parliament.
