Police foiled terror bid in Quetta, suicide bomber held

QUETTA, Dec 18: Police have foiled terror bid when it arrested a suspected suicide bomber in Quetta planning to attack a Muharram procession.

Police sources said that a suicide bomber was arrested in Quetta city when he was drinking water at a 'Sabil' near an Ashura procession.

"Police commandos hit the suspect with a gun butt, leaving him unconscious, before taking him into custody and defusing explosives strapped around his vest," a police official said.

Two hand grenades and a pistol were also recovered from his possession, the official said, adding that the suspect has been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

The authorities have commended the timely action by police commandos, which has avoided a potentially massive terror attempt.
