India denies visa to Pervez Musharraf

NEW DELHI: Indian government denied visa to former Pakistani President and Military Chief, General Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday.

Indian media reported that the government was not satisfied with the reasons given for his visit.

They said Musharraf's recent statements defending Kargil operations are also behind the denial of visa. India has also been upset with Musharraf's remarks of an Indian hand in the trouble in Balochistan.

Musharraf was invited by Young’s President Organization. He was to travel to India to attend a seminar.

After ruling Pakistan for nine years, Musharraf was forced to quit power in 2008 following democratic elections. Since then he has been living in exile in London.

Musharaff had launched his political party, called All-Pakistan Muslim League (APML), in Oct 2010 and revealed his wish to return to Pakistan.

He was planning to stage a comeback in Pakistan politics.
