Germany to take up terror issue with Pakistan

BERLIN Dec 12 : German Chancellor Angela Merkel has given a stern message to Pakistan that terrorism is not a means to solve political problems and this is unacceptable. In a joint press conference with visiting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here German Chancellor while talking about terrorist attacks against India said Berlin would take up the terror issue with Islamabad.

"We want to do whatever we can to make it clear to Pakistan that terror cannot be a means to an end in solving a political problem. We will make it clear to Pakistan that terror is unacceptable," said Merkel. After statements by British Prime Minister Cameron, French President Sarkozy and the European Union (EU) to come down heavily on acts of terrorism, it was another strong Justify Fullcriticism of Pakistan's policy, which is a front line state in the war on terror.

Reports in the Indian media quoting officials accompany Dr Manmohan singh said this was the first time such a strong statement had come out from the EU. While the German Chancellor also complimented India for the stand taken by India at the Cancun conference on climate change, Singh said India deeply valued Germany's consistent support in the 46-member Nuclear Suppliers Group for the opening of international commerce for New Delhi in the field of civil nuclear energy. Both the leaders said that India and Germany will work hard together to advance UN Security Council reforms for expansion of both permanent and non-permanent seats.
