LAHORE, Dec 29 : Gas supply to hundreds of industrial units in the central Punjab including Lahore, Sahiwal and Sheikhupura, remained suspended on the third consecutive day Wednesday rendering hundreds of thousands daily wagers jobless.
According to details production in more than 1300 industrial units including textile industries in Lahore, Sheikhupura and Sahiwal remained suspended on third consecutive day due to cut in gas supply under the National Energy Saving drive.
As a result of closure of these industrial units hundreds of thousands of labourers including daily wagers were rendered jobless further adding to the hardships of the already financial crippled workforce.
Sources said that gas supply to these industrial units would be resumed on Dec 31.
Meanwhile, CNG stations in Lahore, Multan and Gujranwala resumed gas supply after a two-day suspension, however, low gas pressure continues to frustrate the people.
On the other hand daily wagers of the textile and other industries and transporters have demanded of the concerned authorities for reviewing gas load management schedule and maintain gas pressure during supply days so as to lessen their hardships.
