Eight kidnapped teachers released after clash with militants

HANGU, Dec 08 : A police man killed and a teacher received injuries when police backed by local lashkar Wednesday secured release of eight kidnapped teachers.

Eight teachers of a government-run high school were going to school when unidentified militants abducted them at Darband area of Hangu.

On the report, police and local lashkar chased the kidnapers, which lead to a clash leaving one policeman killed and a teacher injured, while all the abducted teachers were released.

"We successfully secured release of all the abductees," a local police official said.

Police identified the policeman killed in the encounter as Manzoor.

Meanwhile, police and Frontier Constabulary jointly conducted a search operation across the district and arrested 35 suspected persons.
