Uproar in NA over petroleum price hike

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Thursday witnessed furor between members of the Opposition and ruling coalition over the recent hike in fuel prices.

The uproar sparked when Opposition members were not allowed to table a resolution demanding withdrawal of the petroleum prices.

The move prompted the opposition lawmakers to create melee in the house with a prolonged thumping of desks and chanting slogans standing over their seats.

Deputy Speaker NA Faisal Karim Kundi urged the opposition to pursue the agenda and initiate debate, but the MNAs form opposition remained insistent on tabling the draft of resolution against the petroleum price hike.

The Deputy Speaker adjourned the session till tomorrow (Friday) 10 am.
