FAISALABAD, Nov 08 : Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGCL) suspended gas supply for industries of Faisalabad for two days - Monday and Tuesday -as part of weekly gas holiday, leaving thousands of daily wagers jobless.
Industrialists of Faisalabad have been repeatedly protesting against the government's decision of two-day gas cut for industries under gas load management plan.
Textile unions have rejected the decision, after which negotiations were also held between the textile unions and gas company officials where unions representing various industries were assured of looking into their demands.
However, SNGCL despite assurance and repeated demands of industrialists has not reviewed its decision of two-day gas cut to the industries.
According to a notification issued by Sui Northern Gas, all textile and other industries of Faisalabad region will not be given gas supply for Monday and Tuesday; where as factories of Multan, Islamabad, Gujranwala and Bahwalpur regions will also remain closed for tow days.
The textile unions have simply denied accepting this two day suspension of gas supply. They also said that if it is forcefully imposed, then Ministry of Petroleum will be responsible for the situation.
While on the other side, upon the directives of Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Gilani, Federal Minister for Textile Rana Farooq Saeed and Minister for Petroleum Naveed Qamar will carry out negotiations with the heads of textile unions of Faisalabad.
On the other hand textile unions and other organizations representing different industries were also flexing muscles to hold country wide protests against unjustified decision of suspension of gas to industries for two consecutive days in a week.
