ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court Monday summoned the chief secretary of Punjab Nasir Mehmood Khosa in disappearance of the inmates from Adiala Jail and adjourned the hearing till Tuesday.
Provincial Home Secretary informed the apex court bench during the hearing that he could not recover and produce the missing prisoners and unable to do so. The Chief Justice said that he will summon the Chief Secretary of Punjab and ask him why the police department has been unable to protect the citizens.
Inspector General of Jails Punjab had informed the court that the Jail Superintendent was on leave on the dates when the prisoners were transferred but he failed to produce the record in support of his claim.
