Interpol can be reached for Musharraf's return: Malik

KARACHI, Nov 08: Interior Minister Rehman Malik Monday said Interpol could be approached to bring former president Pervez Musharraf back for a trial at home.

The minister was speaking to media persons at Karachi International Airport,
before his departure for Doha to attend a meeting of Interpol's General Assembly.

He said that during Interpol General Assembly meeting, he would apprise the international delegates about the losses suffered by Pakistan in the ongoing war on terror and its adverse impact on life of the common man and the country's economy.

Malik said Pakistan had already suffered mammoth losses of $140 billion in the war against terrorism, besides its fallouts like reduced foreign investment, law and order situation and deteriorating economy.

He said that corruption would not be tolerated in any national institution and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and police department were under special sentinel in this regard.

The minister lauded the role of apex court for the eradication of corruption and said the court had played vital role to assist the government in this regard.

To a question regarding Sher Shah incident, he vowed that perpetrators of the incident would be brought to justice.
