LAHORE: The appointment of Justice (Rtd) Deedar Hussain Shah as the chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), has been challenged in Lahore High Court on Saturday. Barrister Jawed Iqbal Jaffery in his petition said that the appointment of Chairman NAB has been violation of merit and 14 clauses of the constitution. The petitioner contended that under the 18th constitutional amendment the top appointment needs consultation with the opposition leader and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court but according to available information they were not consulted for the appointment. The petitioner further said that the new chairman was affiliated with a political party in the past, while an impartial person should be required to be appointed on top accountability office. |
