KARACHI, Sep 19 : An activist of a political party was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Liaqatabad area of the city on Sunday.
According to police, Muhammad Asif 40, S/o Abdul Sattar was present at a Pan shop in Bantoa Nagar area of Liaqatabad when unidentified armed men opened fire at him.
"Asif died on the spot, while the attackers fled away from the scene," police sources said.
They said the deceased was an activist of a political party. However, the locals claimed that Asif was bookie.
"He was also involved in prize bonds business and gambling activities and his assassination could be an outcome of personal enmity, police sources said.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
