18 Pak Army helis distributing rations, rescuing marooned people in KPK

PESHAWAR, Aug 05 (INP): Like other parts of the country, Pakistan Army continues its rescue and relief efforts for affected persons in the flood hit areas of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Pakistan army has deployed 18 helicopters for distribution of rations and evacuating the marooned people from Kalam.

According to statistics provided by Pakistan Army, some 3,000 tourists have been evacuated from Kalam, Behrain and Madyan till Thursday, while 30,000 cooked food packets have been distributed among the affectees of Charsadah,33,601 in Nowshera and 28,920 food packets and 2000 water bottles distributed at Upper Swat.

Besides, eight trucks of 25 tons of rations each sent by Pakistan Rangers Punjab have reached Tarbela Ghazi for further distribution amongst the affected people.

Army engineers are busy in making temporary bridges on River Swat, which were washed away during the recent floods, to facilitate the transportation.People stranded at inaccessible places are being provided food through helicopters and even Animal transport is also being employed.Teams of army doctors treated more than 4,000 patients in four field hospitals at Noweshara, Charsada, Jalozi and Phar Pur D.I. Khan beside free medical camps are also working at different places.
