Death toll of suicide blast in Pakistan's Mingora jumps to 6, 45 wounded -- police

ISLAMABAD, July 15 - At least six people were killed and more than 45 were wounded in a suicide blast Thursday afternoon in a Pakistani northern town, said police.A suicide bomber blew himself up near a bus station as a security convoy passed by in Mingora area of Sawat District, said Imran Qureshi, District Coordinating Officer (DCO), while talking to reporters.He said the bomber's target was the security convoy. The DCO confirmed four casualties and said that about 25 others, including seven children and two women, were wounded.However, Deputy Inspector General Qazi Jamilur Rehman told reporters that about 45 were wounded in the blast and ten shops and eight vehicles were damaged.Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari have strongly condemned the blast and reiterated that the government and the people of Pakistan were committed to confront the challenge of terrorism.
