Accused involved rape cases killed in police encounter

DASKA, July 12 : A person arrested three days ago on charges of raping minors was killed in a police encounter here on Monday.

According to details, police had arrested a person Aftab three days ago for his immoral acts of raping minors. He was being taken to Sialkot for Police remand when two motorcyclists intercepted the police party mid way and opened indiscriminate fire at them in order to rescue the accused from the custody of the police.

Police claimed that the the Police party repulsed the attack and in the meantime the arrested accused tried to flee from the vehicle. During the firing the accused was killed while the other two attackers managed to flee from the scene.Police reinforcements were called in and a search operation was launched for the attackers.

Police team headed by SP Dr Saeed Ahmad Khan was looking into reports by locals that minors were being raped by some one in Daska and surrounding areas for the last four months during which five rape cases of minor girls were registered.

Following hectic efforts, Police team succeeded in apprehending the culprit three days back, the Police sources said.
