ISLAMABAD, June 15 : A three member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan Tuesday rejected the writ petition filed by the sacked MPA of PML-N, wherein the court fined him and ordered the concerned authorities to register a criminal case against the sacked MPA, sources said.
Sources said that MPA Rizwan Gill of PML-N, who was elected from PP-34 constituency of Sargodha , was sacked by Lahore High Court on the charges of having fake degree. The court also ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to conduct by-election in the said constituency.
The sacked MPA had filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan challenging the decision of the Lahore High Court in order to prove legality of his degree which was earlier proved a fake document.
The petitioner, in his appeal, challenged Lahore High Court (LHC)’s verdict, which pronounced Rizwan Gil disqualified from partaking election on holding a fake bachelor’s degree.
The three member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while hearing the case dismissed the petition and also fined the petitioner. The Court also ordered the concerned authorities to register a criminal case against the petitioner.
