RAWALPINDI, May 14: Admiral Agus Suhartono, Chief of Naval Staff, Indonesia separately called on General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani here on Friday and exchanged views on regional maritime security developments, bilateral defence cooperation and other matters of mutual interest.
While appreciating tremendous successes achieved by Indonesia in dismantling the terrorist network leading to its political stability, Chairman JCSC said that promotion of comprehensive engagement with South East Asian countries is an important element of our ‘Vision East Asia’ Policy and Indonesia figures out very prominently amongst these.
He also underscored the need to upgrade the bilateral defence cooperation between both countries which has great scope and potential for expansion especially in the fields of training collaboration and defence industrial cooperation including joint ventures so that both the brotherly countries can mutually benefit from each others’ expertise in diverse fields.
