Cabinet to approve Haj Policy tomorrow, 1,60,000 pilgrims to perform next Haj

ISLAMABAD, May11: The new Haj policy for 2010 will be approved by the Federal Cabinet at its meeting here tomorrow.

The Cabinet meeting will have a seventeen point agenda for consideration including the Haj Policy, 2010.

Sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs said that one hundred and sixty thousand pilgrims would be sent for Haj this year. The new policy contains a number of proposals to provide maximum facilities to the pilgrims.

It has also been proposed to reduce the PIA fares for the pilgrims. However it the fares are not reduced, the sources said then the expenditure of the pilgrims will go up. The policy proposes to hire buildings for the pilgrims in Saudi Arabia before the season while Haj quota for private tour operators has been retained at the previous level. No new Haj tour operator will be registered. In addition ban will remain on operators against whom action was taken on the basis of solid complaints.
