5000 families return to Orakzai Agency

PESHAWAR,: Five thousand IDPs families returned to the tribal district of Orakzai after the security forces completed a six-week offensive against Taliban militants.

“The government provided transport and security to settle these refugees back into their homes,” Khalid Khan, the commissioner of Kohat City, where most of the refugees from the Sthori Khel tribe were living during the operation, said in an interview.

About 7,000 troops took part in the operation that began March 22. About 400 militants were killed in lower Orakzai. Soldiers took control of lower Orakzai, a district of forested mountains where the Taliban regrouped after their ouster from Waziristan .
