Quetta blast death toll rises to 10

QUETTA: The death toll in an explosion outside Civil Hospital in Quetta has reached to 10 persons including a private news channel cameraman and DSP Police.

At least 35 persons including PPP MNA Agha Nasir and some journalists were injured in the incident and eight of them said to be in precarious condition.

the bomb exploded at emergency ward of Civil Hospital when a bank manager Arshad Zaidi who was injured in shooting incident at Mannan Chowk was brought to hospital. Zaidi, who was son of Baluchistan Shia Conference President Agha Ashraf Zaidi, was succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

A large number of relatives and friends were reached the hospital while the newsmen had also arrived to cover the incident.

According to eyewitnesses it was a suicide attack but not confirmed by police.

DIG Investigations Quetta Qazi Abdul Wahid talking to ARY News said it will be premature to speculate about the nature of the blast as the investigations are underway. "Two policemen were killed and six injured in the incident," he said.

The blast rocked the city and shattered windowpanes of the hospital, nearby buildings and the vehicles.

Heavy contingents of Frontier Constabulary and other law enforcement agencies reached to the spot after the blast and cordoned off the area.

The city has been tense and shops at all major business centres have been closed.
