Protests continue against Abbottabad killings

ABBOTTABAD: In Hazara division of NWFP violent protest continued against renaming of NWFP as Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa on Tuesday. Abbottabad, Mansehrah and Haripur are observing three-day mourning against killing of protesters in police firing yesterday.The enraged protesters reached Fawara Chowk in Abbottrabad and closed Shahrah-e-Resham again.

The protesters also pelted stones at vehicular traffic. The protesters also closed Shahrah-e-Karakoram at various points. Mansehrah has also been tense. Tehrik-e-Hazara has withdrawn strike call after Abbottabad violence, however sticks weilding men being seen in various parts of the town involved in violent attacks. All road have also been blocked with bonefires. Complete shutter-down and wheel-jam strikes are being observed in Abbottabad and Haripur. The angry protesters erected hurdles by setting tyres ablaze near Mandian, Jab Pul, Supplai, Sarband Chawk and Lorry Adda and closed Karakoram Highway.The demonstrators blocked Shahrah-e-Hazarah in Haripur, as well.President Hazarah Province Movement Sardar Hyder Zaman appealed to demonstrators to stay calm through three-day mourning.Funeral prayers in absentia would be offered today in Havailian and Galiat for those killed in yesterdays riots.The city administration announced to close all educational institutions for three days and Hazarah University and all its campuses will remain closed for indefinite period.The funeral prayers for the killed yesterday would be offered today in Mansehra, Garhi Habibullah and Balakot, after which, a protest rally will be held in Mansehra.
