Karachi : Project of Commercial complex in SITE will complete on BOT basis

ISLAMABAD, : Cavish Development Foundation officially launched Interfaith Harmony and Peace project on Monday, April 12, 2010, at Hotel Ambassador, Islamabad . Honorable guests included Father Arshad, Fatima Jinnah Church, Masood Chohan, Chairperson District Peace Committee Khanewal, O.P.Narain, President All Pakistan Hindu Panchait, Naeem Iqbal, Chairperson Cavish Board of Directors and Aftab Iqbal, Member Cavish Board of Directors.

Giving a presentation on the project, Muhammad Tahir Khattak shared with the participants that the one year project would be implemented in Khanewal and Rajanpur Districts. He added that under the project Cavish aims to promote interfaith harmony, social existence and peace among religious minorities and Muslim majority.

He further added that the project would achieve its objective through awareness raising activities and initiating discourse for promotion of the interfaith harmony, coexistence and peace and Cavish has formed two youth groups and has trained them in using Puppetry Theater for promoting interfaith harmony and peace. Tahir further shared that the youth groups would conduct puppet theater performance through out the district. In order to sustain the efforts, Cavish has also formed two district peace committees (DPCs), one in each district, Mr. Khattak added.

Addressing on this occasion, Cavish’s Executive Director Hassan Nasir Mirbahar said that this is one of the special projects of Cavish. He added that one of the important aspect of the project is that Cavish would engage youth, who form majority of population in Pakistan and their energies would be utilized for playing a catalyst role promoting interfaith harmony and peace.

Father Arshad appreciated Cavish’s effort and said that such productive initiatives would lead to a secure Pakistan . Mr. Naeem Iqbal, Chairperson Cavish’s Board of Directors, added that through Interfaith Harmony and Peace project Cavish would struggle hard to bring different faith groups on similar grounds in order to build healthy and peaceful relations among them.

Cavish Development Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has been working in Pakistan for more than a decade now. It mainly focuses on issues relating to education, human rights and good governance.
