Raza Rabbani thanks President for assenting two Bills for Workers Rights

ISLAMABAD, March 06 : Senior PPP leader Senator Mian Raza Rabbani appears to be constantly losing goodwill of the Party Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari and appears to be annoyed over not being invited at assent giving ceremony of two Bills held in Karachi on Friday.
A special function was held at the Chief Minister House on Saturday at which the President gave his assent to two laws passed by the Parliament namely “The Removal from Service (Special Powers) Repeal Bill, 2010 and The Service Tribunal (Amendment) Bill 2010. It was attended among others by the Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza, Labour Minister Syed Khursheed Shah and Incharge of PPP Secretariat Chaudhry Manzoor. However the mover of these private bills, Senator Raza Rabbani, who is also Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms was not invited, sources told INP.

The sources said that the Senior PPP leader, who was earlier overlooked for the post of Senate Chairman has written a letter to the President thanking him for having given assent to the two Bills. He is reported to have drawn the attention of the President that the impression that the bills were Government sponsored was wrong and in fact these were moved in the Senate as Private Member Bills by him to fulfill the commitment made by Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto during her lifetime.

He however said he was thankful to the Government that it did not oppose the two bills were in fact black laws passed to suppress the legitimate and constitutional rights of the working class. He pointed out that the PPP has lived up to its character of being a party of the working classes by passing these Bills.
