PESHAWAR, Jan 19: The US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson Tuesday announced a grant to the Government of Pakistan to repair damages and provide security upgrades at the Peshawar Press Club, following the December 22 terrorist attack on the facility.
The Peshawar Press Club plays an important role in media operations and in the region, both as a forum for public discussion and debate and as a support network for the region’s journalists, who often work under extreme political and security pressures.
“Terrorists often target Pakistani journalists, who are on the front lines everyday in the battle against extremism,” Ambassador Patterson said and added, “we support the Peshawar Press Club as well as a free and independent press”.
