ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 : President Asif Ali Zardari has ordered an investigation into the tragic Mian Chunno train and van accident and directed the authorities to take stern action against those found responsible for the mishap.
According to a statement issued from the President House on Wednesday, the President expressed sympathies with the families of victim students.
The President directed the authorities condensed to take appropriate steps to avoid such accidents in future.
President Zardari has also ordered Pakistan Railways to take measures through out the country as such accidents could be avoided in future.
Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and MQM chief Altif Hussan expressed their sorrow of the accident.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced that the government of Punjab will bear all the expenses of treatment.
He also announced Rs 200,000 for the families of children killed in the accident and Rs 50,000 to those critically injured.
He said that the reason of accident at the unmanned crossing was thick fog that has engulfed the whole province for last ten days. INP
