Israel extends official apology to Turkey

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, - Israel has extended an official apology to Turkey over the rudeness of its deputy foreign minister Daniel Ayalon when receiving the Turkish ambassador to Israel.

Hebrew media reported that the Israeli foreign ministry extended an official and clear apology to the Turkish government over the humiliation suffered by its ambassador to Tel Aviv at the hands of Ayalon in front of the press.

They noted that the apology was made following an official advice by Israeli president Shimon Peres and approval of the Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu.

The apology also followed an assertion by the foreign minister that it would not make another apology, adding that it was content with the apology of Ayalon, the drafting of which did not suit Ankara.

Turkish president Abdullah Gul threatened to recall his country's ambassador if such an apology was not made.

Netanyahu hoped that the apology would end the diplomatic crisis between the two governments. PIC
