India releases 31 Pak fishermen

WAGHA, Jan 02 : Indian authorities Saturday released 31 Pakistani fishermen as a goodwill gesture. The Indian authorities handed over 31 Pakistani fishermen to the Pakistan’s authorities at the Wagah border.

Earlier, Pakistan had released 100 Indian fishermen on December 26, 2009 in a step of the good will gesture.

Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani ordered to release 100 Indian fishermen on humanitarian basis Tuesday (December 22, 2009).

According to the spokesman of the PM House, these 100 Indian fishermen were released on purely humanitarian basis and the interior ministry was informed to make arrangements of the release these fishermen kept in Pakistani jails as they could reach India by December 24.

On the other hand, Pakistan gave suggestion to India to constitute a Judicial Commission for the imprisoned Pakistani and Indians in jails of both countries. INP
