14 peoples killed in US drone attacks

MIRANSHAH, Jan 6 : At least 14 peoples were killed in US Drone attacks on Wednesday. US Drone carried out two attacks that killed at least 13 peoples in the area of Sangzlai area in tehsil Datta in North Waziristan , sources in Miranshah said.

The afternoon attack by a drone aircraft struck a militants’ hideout in Sang Zalai area of Datta Khel, 50 kilometres of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan . “A US drone fired two missiles, targeting a militants hideout and killing four militants,” a senior security official in the area told.

“The identity of militants is not known yet. It is also not clear whether any high value target was present in the area when the attack took place.”

The second attack came shortly afterwards when US drones attacked another alleged militants’ hideout killing nine militants. Both the places were completely destroyed by the attack.

A security official confirmed the strike however number of casualties is feared to increase. It was not clear which group was targeted.

According to reports US missiles flattened an extremist fort used as a training centre killing four militants in the fourth such strike in a week.

The attack targeted the mud-brick fort in Sanzali village, about 30 kilometres west of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, and was the fourth suspected US missile attack in the tribal district in a week. INP
