ISLAMABAD : The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has massively slashed the release of water from two main water reservoirs of Tarbela and Mangla.
According to IRSA sources the cut has been applied as clean of canals begin in Punjab from Saturday, December, 26, 2009.
Release of water from Tarbela Dam has been cut down to 10,000 cusecs from 26,000 cusecs and from Mangla to 5,000 cusecs from 21,000 cusecs.
The short release of water from the two dams has brought down the hydel power generation and resultant increase in load shedding in the country. INP
