Abbas: I will never allow a third Intifada against Israel

RAMALLAH, - Mahmoud Abbas bragged, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal published Tuesday, about his war on the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank, affirming that there would be no new Intifada (uprising) against Israel as long as he is in office.
“As long as I am in office, I will never, never allow anyone to start a new Intifada,” Abbas told Wall Street Journal.
He said that he could not guarantee that another Intifada would not explode once he left office, noting that he prevented a third Intifada from taking place many times especially during the Israeli war on Gaza when everybody asked him to do otherwise.
He also blatantly revealed that he secretly offered Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu a compromise solution to the issue of settlement activities, but the latter ignored his overture and did not respond.
Abbas stated that he told Netanyahu that he was ready to resume direct negotiations if Israel froze fully settlement activities without having to declare it publicly, meaning that the Israeli government can declare it would not stop its settlement policy, but on the ground, it should freeze settlement building.
In a separate context, Abbas’s militias kidnapped during the last two days three Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas Movement in the districts of Al-Khalil and Ramallah and stormed a mosque in Qalqiliya.
For its part, the family of Sheikh Mahdi Bushnaq from Romanah town in Jenin called for releasing its son from Abbas’s jails, who was kidnapped five months ago.
The family said that Bushnaq was kidnapped several times before by Abbas’s militias and spent long months in their jails without leveling charges against him, noting that the investigators asked him about his role in the battle of Jenin refugee camp in 2002 and the weapons of the Palestinian resistance.
Bushnaq had spent more than six years in Israel jails on charges of his participation in the battle of Jenin.Sources affiliated with Hamas said that all its cadres in Jenin, who were released by Israel recently after spending several years in prison for their participation in the battle, were kidnapped by Abbas’s militias.PIC
