ISLAMABAD, Jan 26 : Two desperate activists of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party went on indefinite strike on Wednesday in front of the National Press Club on their failure to get jobs despite the announcement of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to facilitate them.
Ejaz Ali and Mohammad Mattal from NA-207 Larkana told reporters that they traveled right from Larkana on bicycles and reached Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi, the martyrdom place of PPP leader Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto on October 11, 2007 and illuminated lamps with their blood. They said that they had made an appeal to the prime minister for provision of jobs. On this they said the PM had announced Rs. 5000 for them and also promised for provision of jobs. But despite passage of two years the government failed to honor its pledge, they regretted.
They said after getting no positive response they had decided to give up their live and attempted to commit suicide by hanging themselves with a tree, two days ago. They said that they were stopped and was assured by the government’s functionaries for redressal of their problems. They said we were again disappointed with attitude of the government for not fulfilling its promises and went on an indefinite strike.
They demanded of the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to honor the commitment made with them, so that could provide food to the family with honor and dignity.
